Default Am I Going Nuts? RE: Owner's Manual on Web

Hello All!

I think I'm pretty web savvy, but this Jaguar website is driving me nuts!

http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/index

I'm looking for the owner's manual for my 2001 XJ8 (X308). So I select the model in the top drop down... then the year in the bottom drop down. I hit FIND.

... And the only thing that loads is a page with a photo of the car and this:

Vehicle:
X308 / XJ V8
Model year:
2001

... with no other links to the manual!? What the heck am I missing here?

Has anyone successfully downloaded a manual from here?

Thanks so much!

SirJag

Default Nuts

SirJag, I had no problems getting on, but they require you to register and PAY for downloaded information. Use the pulldown menus for the various categories.

I think Jaguar is having issues with their web server today. I usually get manuals directly from here: http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf...prod/index.jsp and it does not seem to be working today.

I just downloaded/printed the owners manual for my car, luckily a friend of mine owns a printing shop and was able to make it into a booklet for me. Did the tabs on the right top corner not show on the site?

I am taking it down. I know I downloaded it for free from Jaguar, but that was a few years ago. If someone else needs it, send me a PM.

My car is a 1999 and most of the stuff in the manual is the same. I think the 2000-2003 manuals were the same anyways. I just like having the searchable electronic copy rather than having to schlep to the car to retrieve my paper copy.

Hmmm. I just signed up (created a username etc, but no $). I can get the radio manual and accessory manual, but there is no option for the main owner's manual. If you had to pay for it, the link would be there, but it would say "access denied - see subscriptions". Weird.

Hi Blackbeard, sorry to be a bother but can you tell me how to upload an owners manual for the 2001 XJ8. Thanks, Whitey.

Thank you
I downloaded all 3 PDF files:
Jaguar xj spec book - great resource - seems to cover a hold range of Jaguar models and model years - Nice VIN range listings by model and by year - all kinds of powertrain specs.

Jaguar 2000 XJ Vehicle Care Handbook
Jaguar 2000 XJ Drivers Handbook

Nice going MoscowLeaper

This seems to be the best thread to ask this question, but I'm new so I humbly request some assistance with the learning curve if I've missed my mark. I just sold my 04 XJ8. I have the "Jaguar XJ (X350+X358) 2003.5-2009 FSM.pdf". Will that cover the 03 VDP? Is it an XJ, XJ8, X-Type, etc??? I have the VIN code and have decoded it, but I don't know if that matters in this instance. That data is as follows:
SAJ – World Manu ID
D – Market & Airbag (D=USA)
A – Automatic (LHS)
24 – 4-Dr Saloon, V8, LWB, 5 seat, Daimler VDP
C – Emissions (USA/Canada)
0 – UNK
3 – Model Year (2003)
L – Assembly Plant, Browns Lane 4.0 AJ27
F50319 – Production serial number

I was able to locate and download the manual for the 2004, although it was one chapter at a time, nonetheless, it was done. This issue goes a bit deeper as I am now confused as to what series of vehicle I'm looking at. The car looks like an XJ8, the front grill looks like an X-Type and the innards appear to be a mash up of both. So, I guess my question has two parts; what manual am I looking for and where can I download the Owner's Handbooks for free? The hard copies are with the car, but it's still over 100 miles away... As always, Thank you for your assistance!

Respects,
RAGMAN!!!

X308 last year was 03 in the US but 02 in ROW ( Rest Of World), therefore the manual that you have is wrong

I was able to find 2002 jaguar XJ vehicle care handbook PDF file on the Jaguar website by search the internet:

Here is the weblink to the PDF - I stored on my dropbox.com:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gjam1gycub...e_Handbook.pdf

jagdocs.com sells complete sets of the handbooks in PDF format for X308 - list 2003 XJ - but it is the 2002 year books.

We have the 2000 XJ owners handbook pdf file:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4gmfd5or96...s_Handbook.pdf

1998 to 2003 Jaguar XJ series is the X308 models
2003.5 is really the pre-2004 X350 models

Since you already owned 2004 XJ - you know what changed from the X308 to the X350 models - smaller grille, etc, also the X350 models have a vin numbers starting with G to H in the 1st position of the last 6 digits. X308 models from 2000 to 2003 have the F in that vin postion.

Here is JPEG file showing the XJ models vin ranges from 1998 to 2004 also included photos of X308 and X350 models:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0jl10q5zf0...n%20ranges.jpg

Note that the 2003 model year vin range is not listed separately but shows of part of the 2002 vin range.
