Default Battery disconnected/reconnected still P1111

The other day my 2002 XJR went into restricted mode. I pulled over, disconnected the battery, reconnected it and hooked up my Autel OBD scanner.

It came up with two DTCs’ P1111 and P1121. I’m not so worried about P1121 yet. My throttle body was replaced only a few years ago. If it happens again I’ll first start cleaning all the various connectors etc. But after a reset I have driven the car several hundreds of kilometers and nothing appeared again. So far so good.

My question is on the P1111. I know you will always have the P1000 or the P1111 on our cars.

I’m just curious as to what will reset the P1111. I had the battery disconnected for about 30 seconds and it still showed P1111. Should a battery disconnect not reset the ECU to redo the drive test? I was expecting P1000.

Thanks

Jeroen

P1000 the car is going through the parameters checking the system. After the car finds no problems, usally after around 100 miles, the car will show P1111 saying all is good.

P1111 is what you want and it will always be there unless there is an error code thrown or P1000 is shown.

If you really want the P1111 to go away, you have to physically clear it with a scan tool. However, as long as the P1121 went away, I'd just keep driving until it comes back.

Thanks, as I said, I’m familiar with P1000 and P1111.

I was just surprised to see P1111 after having had the battery disconnected for about half a minute. I would have thought that would reset the ECU to start the drive cycle. Hence I was expecting to see a P1000 after a battery disconnect, not a P1111.

That was my question:

Should a battery disconnect not reset the ECU to redo the drive test?

Clearing DTC’s doesn’t change P1111 into P1000. Both are valid conditions.

Maybe a more advanced OBD scanner than my Autel MD802 or Autoengenuity with Jaguar Pack can reset P1111 into P1000. Mine can’t.

Clearing DTCs should change P1111 into P1000 because the clear also clears the OBD monitors (and they're what determine P1000/P1111).

30 secs may not be long enough for power to fully discharge and so P1111 would remain.

I don’t think you can clear/reset the P1111 as it is not an error, but a condition. At least nothing happens when I push clear on either my Autoengenuity or Autel OBD scanner.

Maybe it will take longer then 30 seconds. I’ll try next time

My Autoenginuity always reset the p1111 to p1000 when I clear codes.

Here too, battery disconnect, battery hard reset, and clearing codes with Torque Pro all change P1111 into P1000.

Why would you want to clear the P1111 code in the first place?
The P1111 code is a good code.
That means all of your monitor tests have completed successfully.

The P1111 is a GOOD code to have.

I have some issues with my EVAP system.

I would KILL for a P1111 code right now !!!!
