Instrument change, plug and play or programme it?
Hi guys, it appears i have can failure on my instrument pack, im hoping for a quick fix and was wondering if another instrument pack from the same year of car will plug in and work without having to reprogramme it to work? I have done the backplate solder issue but still have warning lights no speedo rev counter or display, i have tried to look into this but am getting conflicting answers, Jaguar say it will need programming, other people are saying it will plug and work. I just want my Jaguar working as it should, anyone on here know the answer?
Thanks guys

What year car? SC, 4.0 or 3.2?
It depends on which IPK you replace it with, if you have an exact parts number match - by looking in the trunk spare wheel well shoulder panel, there's the CATS LIST and will list the IPK part number along with it's actual programming code - you need these numbers to match for plug and play.
If you require further details, do a search, a thread by Jim Lombardi has this subject discussed at length...hope that helps.
