I Was on Ebay messing around when I came Across this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LHD-ARMOURED-J...Automobiles_UK
It seems its the same spec as that the UK Prime Minister is driven in. I bet the MPG on this one isn't as high as the Brochure says!!!

Ebay sellers never fail to make me laugh. I love this claim...
THIS UNIQUE VEHICLE GIVES PROTECTION FROM HIGH VELOCITY RIFLES, HAND GUNS, BOMB BLASTS AND LAND MINES. PROTECTION FROM SHRAPNEL , HAND GRENADES CLOSE RANGE DETONATION AND SUICIDE BOMBERS.
I've worked on projects like this and usually when a vehicle gets to this level, it's well over the GVW of the stock platform.

These are rare cars, there was 6 ordered in 2002 for instance. They've got Alcon 4 pot brakes with rotors and bells at the rear for doing "J turns". I guess there'll be a few being released into the wild now as the MoD has moved onto other vehicles.

It is exactly like the one the Previous Prime Minister used to use before the last election. It always humbled me that the UK Government prefered the X308 to the X350 XJ.
It has to be said though, and I'm not saying this because I love X308s so much, but the 308 looks so British compared to the X350. Others will disagree but I love the X308 so much I reckon I'll keep mine forever!!

in that case Stu, keep it off the road during the winter and Waxoil it, you'll keep the rust away ;*)
I agree on the 308, it has that 'Ministry Chic' aura about it that the 350 fails to have. The 308 is the last of the Brown's Lane Jaguar's and a direct evolution of Lyon's XJ6 series 1 of 1968. A lot more advanced in many area's, but in my mind, the last of the line, and best.

I was on the way back from a job in the lakes on Friday, and a Rover P5 Coupe Passed me on the M6. The sound of it's V8a and the fact that it was still able to cruise at well over 70 humbled me.

Armoured X350
Hi Sirroy + anyone that can help,
In answer to your question I bought an X350 2.7d sport premium last October. On the build sheet on the front doorshut on the passenger door it says armoured.
The car doesn't have much history but has been maintained well. I've just had the timing belt done and water pump done as a precaution as its done 120k.
The car was originally sold by Jaguar Thames Ditton so im thinking that's government territory. Also the service stamps are from a garage in Northern Ireland. Putting my detective hat on im am thinking that it may have been MOD and served its time in Northern Ireland.
This said however, its a diesel not a V8 petrol. Secondly it does not have bullet proof glass. I have spoken to some chaps that hire armoured vehicles out (to god knows who!) and they say that it MIGHT have been used for surveillance whereby bullet proof glass sticks out like a sore thumb because of the gold fish bowl effect the glass has so they didn't put it on surveillance cars. Personally I think that rolling around in a big bad *** Jag wouldn't be that inconspicuous!
Further to this they said that the doors often had Kevlar linings making it B6 bullet proof.
Probably a moot point though as all the electrical gubbings have been removed i.e. strobe lights etc therefore returning it to stock.
This weekend, if time permits I am going to have a peek behind the door cards to see if they are Kevlar lined. Figured this would be better than shooting it!
Does anyone else have armoured on their door plate. I am thinking that the car isn't anything out of the ordinary due to the price I paid and also because the last two previous owners didn't know anything about it.
I can live in hope though.
Many thanks
Vin
