Colored engine covers inquiry.

On this forum I've seen a X308 w/ red covers in the engine bay. Today I went to the local import shop & low & behold there was a 2001 in there that had glorious British racing green covers ?! I must have these lol anyone have a clue as where to find them @ ? I'm speaking on the 3 covers that are the coolant reservoir, tool kit etc. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology in my search by using "cover".

Thanks

Were they just painted? or were they actually molded in that color? It wouldn't take much to paint those, just clean, and spray, really.

Actually molded w/ a semi shiny material & white logo, even the foam gasket was colored. There's a guy on this forum that has posted his before w/ the red ones.

my 4.0 badge paint on my engine cover has been removed and is just black now. any way to bring it back or do I buy a new one?

Arden actually sold a kit of those parts out of Carbon fibre for those with no taste ;)

Can't find a pic at the moment but they were sold...

Touche', the red's a bit garish for me but the green I saw recently was subtle & cohesive. Really rare to see X308's in my city, this one looked to be going through a resurrection. The engine looked meticulous but the outside was a bit rough.

I didn't want to pry about whom the owner was so I could get info. on the trim.

Don't want the mechanics' @ the water cooler whispering "There's Charles the Jaguar stalker " lol.

I hope you didn't thin I was refering to ypu regarding the taste. That was more so for those who need CF on a luxury car... Kind of like goldplating diamonds... ;)

No worries are offense inferred lol I too find things like that annoying. Like I could see putting the red engine trim on say an XJR but not my base.

Mean these ones?
Seem painted to me, at least should be easy to do in the color you want.

Those exactly sir, hmm is it paint ?! I shall deduce & pontificate over a stiff rum & green tea lol.

It isn't hard to paint them. First a good paint base, something allowing the paint to stick to ABS plastic. Then loads of filler. After that, paint it in the colour you want and put some clear spray over it... Done... Polish it all to a nice shine and you have that picture in your desired colour :)

Those above are a vinyl wrap job, looking at the center one there's an unstuck area...

Good call ! Yeah the gloss was a bit too uniform to my eye as well.
