coolant question

hi guys . I want to change the coolant now as I read in the forum the Prestone Dex-Cool 50/50 coolant meets my car specs my question is should I add 10 liter of this coolant or I must add 5 liter of coolant then add 5 liter of water ? so the total is 50% coolant and 50% water ?

im really confused about this thing what should I do?

thank you .

If you purchase the 50/50 mixture then the water is already added, as I understand it. Based on that you would just fill it from the bottles and not add any additional water.

What I do is buy the un-diluted concentrate (not 50/50) and then add equal parts pure coolant and distilled water. That seems to come out a little cheaper but I think either way is fine.

If you mix it 1 to 1 with water, you will have 25% coolant and 75% water.

I also use pure concentrate and mix with DISTILLED water 50/50 in a seperate clean container, shake a little, then pour into cooling system. You could pour in equal amounts of water and coolant and let it mix in the system but I am diligent when it comes to these things.

what you think about water wetter and distilled water without any anti freeze

Sounds like a bad idea to be honest. Your engine is designed to run a mixture of anti-freeze and water. You might be opening yourself up to corrosion and other problems.

I read good reviews about water wetter but I'm not sure if it's good for the AJ engine .

running antifreeze in hot climates is that okay?

Look in your owner's manual for the acceptable ratio range. In hot climates you can almost certainly run something like 60 water/40 antifreeze. I am sure somebody here knows the limits. Antifreeze is not just to prevent freezing but it lubricates and nourishes certain parts of the cooling system. That's why you do not want to run straight water unless it's for very temporary flushing purposes.

In Malaysia, I use 1 part concentrated antifreeze with 2 parts of distilled water. This is probably still sufficient concentration of antifreeze to provide lubrication and anti corrosion. If you live in the area where the temperatures do not drop below freezing, it is better to use this concentration as the coolant mixture with less antifreeze has better heat transfer efficiency.

I will add 2 jugs of 50/50 antifreeze and distilled water
