Cooling problem?

Hi. Over the past month or so I've noticed that my cooling fan comes on for about 30 seconds almost every time I turn off the motor. It also happens occassionally while idling. I don't recall this happening last season and the weather in Southeast PA as not been that warm.

I do get heat in the cabin and the temp guageshows no problem. I have not changed coolant in the 2 years I have owned the car and have not needed to add much.Is there something I should check?

Thanks

#1 Guess is thermostst.

The Temp Gauge will not show any deviation until a Real Problem exists. BAD ?? Yes, for guys like us. Several things could be wrong, but, I would switch the thermostst, which is a 30 min job.

Thanks

As a point of insurance it may be an idea to change the water pump - this can wear quite quickly as they are plastic inside and have a tendency to break up - if the engine is does start to over heat because of a faulty pump it will do so very quickly and then you could be into big money. A new pump should cost about 100 $ +/-.
Hope it's ok. Cheers
