Default Drivers Heated Seat 03 XJ8

Ok, so I have read every post I Can find concerning heated seats (Yes I can live without it but why?) I have put my fingers on the relay under the drivers seat when turning the seat heater on and the relay kicks in without issue, but the seat doesn't heat up. So at this point I figure it is the heat element, does anyone have removal instructions to get to the element or is this something everyone sends to the shop? I prefer to fix things myself.

My drivers seat doesn't even start to get warm, let alone hot... but my wife and boys are happy to have heated seats... Who knows if it is thermostatically controlled, maybe I have a bad thermostat...

I know this is an older post, but it does ask a similar question I have about the heat output of the seats. The other day I went with my friend to pick some christmas gifts up, and we took his 2001 BMW 750iL. I tried his heated seats, and they were lovely and warm, and really made my back feel better (I have Siatica). When I got back in my XJ my seat was no where near as warm, and neither is the passenger's.

Is there a way to adjust the thermostat? Or is there other options for improving the heat output of these seats? Ta Fellas, S.

My front seats get almost too hot, but they take almost as long as the A/C heater to warm up. They also seem to turn off after about 15 mins. My rear heated seats are very weak though.

Sadly I am still living with my lack of heated seats, but the best solution I can find is to install aftermarket seat heaters. 3 way version hoping to do that before long as I hate cold leather seats.

Curious: is the back supposed to be heated too? My butt gets warm enough but my back sure would enjoy some heat.

There are 2 pads (I assume) as my seat base and seat back both get really toasty. So does the passenger side. I can state categorically that the seat heaters in a '00 XJR are way more powerful than the seat heaters in a '92 XJS Conv as I get constant complaints from my girlfriend that the XJS doesn't get warm enough :-)

Agree with other posters comments that they take a while to get up to temp, maybe 5 minutes, and they do seem to go off after a while, but usually you are already roasting by this stage.

My XJR is a California car and I had seen other posts that stated the seats wouldn't heat up if the outside temp was greater than a certain value, but I've always been able to turn mine on, even on a really hot day here. Sounds like there is some "variability" in the XJ heated seat system, but then it wouldn't be any fun if they were all the same, would it ?!
