Engine under tray fixings x308?

I have just bought a new engine under tray from a main dealer for my 1997 Daimler X308 (4 LITRE V8). However, I would like to know what fixings I need. The old one had black plastic "fir tree" fixings but, I think that these are not what I need. The dealer gave me (free) black metal screws with washers but, they gave no real tight fixing. Any advice and part number would be great thanks! :icon_confused:

walker - I've moved your post from the general tech help to the XJ (X308) section where members with the same model will be better able to assist you.

Also as this is your first post, when you have a moment, please stop by the New Member section New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an intro about yourself and the car. In turn you will receive a warm welcome and tips on navigating the forum.

regards,

Hi there:

First, welcome to the forum! Be sure to check in with the new members "Intro" section - we try to be a really friendly group around here. :)

I think this is what you're looking for, yes?
Jaguar FASTENER CLIPS TO SECURE FRONT UNDERTRAY ON 1995-1997 XJ6 AND 1998-2003 XK8 TO FRONT BUMPER COVER CO - BEC19939-KIT

Trouble is, I don't think they hold especially well either. I've lost two under trays and the last time it flew off the car, it ripped holes in the little plastic bumper tabs. I've thus just been driving around without one… Not quite sure what I'm going to do…

Good luck!
Scott

I used 1/4" pan head machine screws and nylon insert lock nuts. It may not be OEM, but it's not going to come loose.

Welcome to the forum walkerc,

Here is the extract from the Parts Catalogue:

There are 3 different types of fasteners used on the Undertray. The usual reason for it coming loose (other than physical damage) is missing or incorrectly fitted fastenings.

The main ones on the front edge are P/N KRS112120 listed in the Catalogue as "Rivet Screw" but more commonly known as "Scrivets":

Attachment 85356

The Scrivet is pushed through the Undertray into the Bumper. When the screw (arrowed in blue) is tightened, the body (arrowed in red) expands and locks into position.

If you rivet it back on, how do you ever gain access to your fog lamps again and other items without breaking them? My has "c clips?" and bolts that holds mine on...could you do something like that?
