RE: fuel injector cleaner

I think Lucas has one of the better ones. That's what I always use.

I think Lucas, Techron, and BG are good.

I'd suggest having the injectors professionally cleaned at a shop using the "MotorVac" or similar method and then using the pour-in-the-tank stuff a few times a year to help keep them clean

Cheers

RE: fuel injector cleaner

+1 to having them done right, then keeping them clean.

I use Chevron Supreme 100% of the time. This helps keep the system cleaner.

I know Techron is a good, proven product. I believe STP's is as well. Not really familiar with the other ones.

Hi,

I have access to a ultrasonic cleaning device. I plan to use that to clean my injectors.

Now, is it a good idea? And a second question: What cleaning liquid to use?

Thanks.

Using a good fuel and proper maintenance is a key to keeping the injectors clean. As for removing them cleaning and then reinstall I think that is excessive and not necessary unless you have a reason. As for cleaners, I have been using them from the time I started driving and that has been a long time. Today my primary choice of cleaner is BG 44k. I have been using it for several years with positive results, I should also mention that Jaguar along with other dealerships use it in my area. As for the Techron I have used it and if 44k was not available I would recommend it without hesitation. However you are the one that needs to be satisfied with the product. Either one you will not go wrong!

Not sure if an ultrasonic cleaning device would have the same result as the normal method of forcing a cleaning product through the injector. Let us know.

Well, will see, one obvious thing is, that the injectors will be in "closed" position during cleaning ... I haven't figured out that part yet ...

Don't over think it. The BG 44k is good stuff. Burn some periodically. These cars don't go through injectors like the old XJS and Series 3 cars did.
