Default windshield rubber seal problem

A brilliant idea gone bad ...

The rubber seals on the windshield and backlight which used to be flush with the surrounding sheetmetal is now lifted. The cause was spraying Fluid Film under the rubber. After 24 hours, the rubber has lifted/curled away from the body.

The worst scenario is perhaps the urethane bonding sealant has swelled and lifted the whole assembly including the glass.

Now ...

1. can the rubber seal and brightwork be removed without disturbing the glass?

2. are there any "miracle" treatments?

3. JTIS says new glass is supplied with seal and brightwork already applied. But, is the seal available separately?

Gluing the rubber back down might be possible. But, it would need to be done in sections. So, a fast setting adhesive is desireable because the only way of keeping the edge down during setting is masking tape. Any suggestions?

And an a darker note:

Replacement seals are $800+ for front and rear. The parts guy says they are not natural rubber.

Now, Fluid Film/Eureka says that their product does not affect synthetic rubber. But they also manage to say in the TDS/MSDS that the product either has VOC < 1% or VOC = 27%. They wrote the documents, so they should at least be able to come up with a single number. Their "lab" which "tests" their products has no idea of the effect on urethane.

They position their product as a premium product and encourage it's use everywhere, but they also said that they have "never compensated a customer" for damage caused by their product.

Hi Plums
You might want to contact Dow Chemicals about their BETASEAL glass bonding product (U-418).

I found this information on their website:
BETASEAL glass bonding systems are used to originally install auto glass in the majority of vehicles worldwide, making the adhesives the perfect choice when restoring windshield structures to the original strength and specification.
