Default higher pitched hum from rear at low speed turns

So interesting issue...at low speed turns, in either direction, the drivers side rear end makes a singing sound...a high pitched hum of sorts.

Looking at the rear end, I'm having trouble identifying what could make this noise. There is no apparent play in the wheel bearing or excessive ujoint play.

Rear front subframe mounts are new with no change.

Could it be the lower hub bearings? I can't imagine a low speed turn with barely any load would cause an issue there.

Any ideas?

Thanks fellas

Maybe grease the U-joints just to see if it’ll make any difference at all? I was thinking initially the wheel bearings need to be replaced or repacked. There is supposed to be a bit of play at the 6 & 12 O’clock position.

Thanks, I did recently grease them but could do so again. As you noted, tiny bit of top bottom play but nothing side to side.

Then put the car on a flat surface, chock the front wheels, put the transmission in neutral, Jack up the backend of the car and spin each rear wheel going forward by hand. If that D/S rear wheel is making noise on turns, it should sound different than the P/S. If you already greased the U-joints recently, I’d say there’s no reason to do it again. Is it possible that the sidewall of the tire is rubbing against something?

I'd be thinking wheel bearings too. I had a rear one go on a XJ40, it moaned at times but there was no extra play in it. I don't think the hub design is that different on X308s so I can imagine the same happening with these cars.
