Introducing the Grandson..

It's about time I had the chance to say hello on here..it's been awhile. So most of my time over the last 18 months or more has been taken to nursing X300's and the odd 40 back to somewhere near road usable. So here is the latest addition to stand alongside Rio Man the X300 and Marty the XJ40.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c9f4e39feb.jpg

Dad keeping a close eye in the background.

A friend had asked if at some point he could borrow a car and if at the time of asking it was a nice looking one....This was two days after waving goodbye to a Turquoise 4.0 'Sport' X300 which I bought solely to use for one of my sons end of school proms. So whilst on the look-out for another project I thought I would cast the net further a field and venture back into the world of the V8's...Picked her up yesterday and drove her eighty miles home. Came with a fat folder of history. There are couple of things that need addressing but nothing overly bad.Had a brand new engine fitted 71k ago..I will as always keep you up to date on anything that I might venture to do....headlning is saggy and having already had a go at replacing the one on the 40 I might have a go at this one...and I have just been given the number of man that does the 'dinks'..old-school style. Grandad is on the road...he might be older but at the moment he not giving up the daily driver slot.

Engine bay quick clean.

Only a quick once over with some WD40 and a couple of cloths but it can make the world of difference.https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...3a6eb63aa6.jpg

Yeah, WD40 does wonders on all sorts of clean up, gives you a new attitude on the project. It seems you may need to replace the shock tower bushings?

Yes,they did look a little....how do you say....fluffy? around the edges. I've just done a pair on the X300....one of which had disappeared completely. Quick search reveals these come as part of the mounting plate,so are the bushes not available on their own?

I bought mine separately, but that was about 4-5 yrs ago, ...like these... Jaguar Upper Shock Bushing Kit ...or these on ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ8-...bushings&rt=nc
But here's one premounted at a pretty good price... https://www.partsgeek.com/z5rm5lz-ja...ock-mount.html ...that price to me would eliminate the effort to tear the old one apart to fix it. That is if it fits? ...same here on ebay again... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2003-J....c100005.m1851

Thank you for the links. Cost versus time and effort would lead me toward the mount complete, I've found some on Ebay at about £30 ish each. I'll need to prioritise my 'Need to do' list as this one isn't a keeper. A friend would like to use it for a wedding in late September so I will be looking at doing the headlining first and then go from there.
