Here is my XJR that im currently upgrading. New paintjob, new rims, tires, all fluids changed, Big brake-kit in progress and so on... Looking for some serious enginetuning also.

DavidN: The wheels are not RS1, they are BBS Le Mans. The wheels on your Bmw E38 are also BBS Le Mans.

My wheels are wide even in front. 9,5-19 in all 4 corners, with Michelin PS2 265-30-19. The wheels are a bit "Special" for a Jag, but in my opinion they are probably the nicest looking 19 that i have seen on a Jag... With the 9,5 wide rims in front, the lip gets BIG in front too, i like that. Gives the car a fat look.

But... I maybe will change them to 20´s now, because of the brakes im applying. Otherwise, i´ll have to space the frontwheels out as much as 20 mm on each side, and that will not look good anymore.

I have seen a set of 20´s that im in to, 10,5 x 20(with a 11 cm lip!) in rear and 9 x 20 in front... But then, the car must stay on this height, a lowering with those wheels is not possible in my opinion.

Lets see what the future brings!

Yes indeed! I was going to guess Canada. I spent one week touring the Canadian Rockies last year. It was like stepping into a calendar photo. Talk about mind-blowing scenery. Simply unreal.

Is there any fitment issues with the BMW bolt pattern? I know the bolt pattern is only .65mm different. I'm thinking of eventually putting on some wheels that have the BMW bolt pattern. Much more options to choose from.

I LOVE British Columbia. Vancouver and Victoria seem so ideal. Beautiful scenery, beautiful and clean cities, pretty women, and Canadians are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I have read that Vancouver is at the top of the list of the worlds cities for the quality of life. Vancouver is expensive though.:icon_shrug:

SteveM: There are no problems with the Bmw-bolt-pattern, IF you know what you are doing.
You have to notice the center-bore hole on the Bmw-wheels, if you are gonna use them.
The Bmw 5/7-series fits right on, but there may be a minimum of clearence/play in the center hole, so you have to be careful when you put the wheel plugs/"bolts" in. Do it carefully, don screw them in to the bottom at once. Take them one by one.
The 5/7-series wheels will also give your car a more "bulky" look, wich in my opinion is positive for these Jags.
But - better is to use the Bmw 3-series-rims, and machine the smaller center-hole up from 72,6 mm to 73,8(Jaguar), then the wheel will center by this hole and you dont have to take as much causion when you mount the wheels on the car.
The downside with the Bmw 3-series-rims, in my opinion, is that they often dont give that "bulky" look on a Jaguar. This is because the offset are higher on these rims.
Then - you can do as i did, if you want WIDE rims in front too... Use the 3-series in front and the 5-series in rear. This is a good combo, but... Wide frontrims with Brembo-R-Brakes dont work so good... Thats the reason i maybe will put 20´s on my car, with not quite so wide front rims...
This can be altered in so many ways, but in general - No problems with the Bmw-wheels on a Jaguar, IF you know what you are doing.

:D you get what you pay for. It's just like a Jaguar, if you seek absolute luxury and ultimate refinement with great performance you pay the few extra notes it takes to acquire it.

I went to Quebec city last year in my Jag and everyone loved it! People literally thought I was someone special. lol

As an American, Quebec city was interesting. It was strange to me to be in a city that went 18 months without a single murder! Women walked around alone at night down dark streets without appearing worried at all. They didn't even look behind them when they heard two guys (myself and my brother) at 1am walking behind them. Very weird.

Friendly strangers approached me to talk about about the sights to see or just random things which threw me off, for I am used to being a bit more guarded in the states. Montreal was more similar to the USA in those respects however.

I'm not knocking the USA at all btw! I love the USA and Canada.

You are someone special, you own and operate a magnificent piece of art. That tells all that you are a man of exquisite taste. I have not made my way to Quebec myself, being a new comer to Canada BC is definitely a good start. However, the way you describe Quebec and how friendly people are reminds me of my hometown. It's a small city of 18 million people, Cairo, Egypt ;) Canadians are certainly good natured and open to others. Having lived for eight years in Lincoln, NE I can easily compare the two societies. Each has its positives and negatives as do all societies, but both are very inhabitable.

Back when she had a heart beating to the drum: She now sits partially disassembled needing a heart transplant :(

Wow great comparison with the X350. I knew the X350 looks worse, but I didnt realize it looked THAT much worse than the X308 until I saw your comparison! The X350 does not look like a Jag at all in comparison.

I absolutely agree, the X350 looks bulky like an American full size sedan whereas the X308 is a refined European masterpiece.

I almost bought an X350 instead for a few reasons:
I was more involved in the peeformance development of the AJ33/34/36 and X350 in general and I have a tremedous technical background on it. When I became involved in the development of the AJ26/27 and 28 I was less senior and was just learning.
The difference between driving an X350 and X300 are night and day: The X350 has handling that belies its size and bulk and corners well, relartively.
I like DETAILS of the X350s styling: it gets rid of the C pillar quarter light of the X300/XJ40 which I never liked, it has bigger outer headlights- like a series 3 and series 2 (in Europe anyway-where they werent hindered with sealed beam nonsense!), the rear LED type lights hark back to classic era Jags and the grille of the NA X350s harks back to the series 2s with the cross bars. I also prefer the dashboard and interior of the X350.
However- when you see the car in the flesh it is SOOO bulky- the cabin is so big relative to the length of the car- thus ruining the classic Lyonesque proportions. The X350 just looks big and slab sided- quite bulky. A Jaguar, after all is pretty much jaw-dropping Form OVER function. I have my BMW for function over form.
The air suspension makes me nervous- as I intend to keep this car a long long time, just as I have my Porsche and BMW. I have zero interest in X351s and such like.

WHat swung me to the X308- was the low speed ride is much more compliant- I'm in the USA now- ultimate handling is less of a priority- the roads here (with the exception of the coastal highway) are pretty straight compared to where I grew up. The NVH refinement of the X308 Is nicer- when the X350 was being developed a huge priority was getting the refinement- due to the structure the noise transfer functions into the cabin had changed. That's why the intake zip tubes have so many helmholtz resonators- to try to target intake booms!
The X308 isnt as stable in terms of high speed handling- but this isnt a big deal- I no longer live in Germany!
Despite everyones negative comments I find the interior room of the X308 fine- it's bigger than alot of compacts so I'm fine.

By posting pictures I don't want to get into a debate about the paint, it's my car I've built from a bare bodyshell I'm finishing it how I want it. I know authenticity is a big issue but I'm not one of those people that has to have a car standard, the engine, brakes, interior, lighting and trim are all revised to my personal taste. And I love it to bits. The pearl paint catches only in broad sunlight, overcast days, of which there are many in the UK, it's Jag P.E.D. Anthracite. My customized XJR100 is nearly there.
