Missing 3rd Brake Light
Hi Guys,
My son's 1999 XJR was purchased without a 3rd brake light in the rear window and is causing the dash warning about brake lights out every time he steps on the brakes. In liu of obtaining a new brake light to replace, I was hoping a resistor put in the now unused plug that went to the light would fool the car into thinking there is a functional brake light. Can anyone who is a soothsayer of OHM's law confirm if this would work and if so, what value of resistor?
Thanks All

Find a 3rd brake light on ebay or a junk yard. Should not be much. Mine was missing and I did not get brake light warnings. Try replacing both brake light bulbs. If one
has a brass base and the other a steel base, the variance in resistance will trip the
warning.
