ok im new to this forum and a new jaguar owner this is my first jaguar and it is a 1998 XJ8 and i love it have had it two weeks and got a hell of a deal on it. ok now to my problem my wife can drive it all day long with no prblems it runs perfect for her everytime.(it is her car)Then i get in it to drive it and almost every time i get into it i put the key in and try to start it, it wont start and i get a engine fail safe code ill get into my truck and take off where ever im going then she will get into and it starts right up. Any help would be great i did get a couple of codes when i ran a scanner on it they are p1000 and p1797 please help

I feel your pain. My car went into limp mode on me. My ex worked on it, got in it, drove it like he stole it, and she purred. Now he knows why I love my car.

There are some places online where you can find the meanings for your touble codes. I found mine here. http://www.jaguar-online-club.de/obd...t_codes.0.html but they might be different for your model.

 

thanks for that info i think i have it isolated to the wire around the steering colume do to the fact that the only difference in me driving it and wife driving it is i move the steering wheel so im trying to seperate the wires and check each connection
