Default Need help on what this part is? Pic included

Hello all,

I have 2 questions for you guys. My independent shop cannot find this part for me. They called it an alignment bushing or something along that line. I have a slight camber issue in the front left and am wearing out the inside of my tire too fast. They told me they were confident if this part was repaired and then an alignment was redone it would fix the camber issue. In the pic provided it is the part directly to the right of the second spring from the top in the pic and to the left of the 5 edged bolt..sorry not great the part names lol..and sorry this is a cell phone pic..

second question is if this fails to fix the camber issue they suggested a camber kit that looks to bolt on somewhere. They said that would fix the issue as well, but if the first pic has a broken part as well I would like to get that fixed..just need to know what it is so I can find it online and have them install it...much cheaper than the dealership and they are good, hardworking people

This looks like a rear lower control arm bushing and the bolt that secures it is adjustable for alignment. The bushings are readily available from online stores eg, Autohaus.

I am surprised that your indy could not find them. Were they talking about fitting a control arm with the bushings already in it?

That looks like a poor aftermarket replacement bushing or possibly just a rubber insulator stuffed behind the lower arm in an attempt to shore it up. Attached is a bulletin with part numbers to help get the right part.

Good luck!

Default Diagram & Info on 2002 VDP Front Suspension

Hi theusualsuspect
I though you might like to have a diagram and other information about your 2002 VDP Front Suspension.

When PDF file opens in PDF reader - go to page 2 and view it in Full Screen Mode (menu option "Window" at Top of Screen). Use the "ESC" key to return to normal screen mode.
Here is a PDF file with diagram:

Here is information about possible replacement of bushings in the control arms.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it looks to me like you need [or were asking about] the REAR bushing on the lower control arm. The way I read it, that would be a suffix BB bushing, not a suffix AB, for a 2002 XJ.

??

I have used Uroparts bushing in the past and they are OK. Might use Jag ones in the future though. More durable perhaps.

one last question for you experts..do you recommend I do the lower and upper bushing at the same time even if the upper looks to be in good condition? Just wondering if that will need replacing down the line and since the workers will be in there if its recommended to just do both...or maybe the upper is a tougher job..thanks

Well, Jaguar labor for both lower wishbone bushings, one side is 3.3, for both upper wishbone bushings, one side, it's 0.7. Personally I think the 0.7 is a little light for that job. I don't think they are out of line for that repair.

Cheers,

You can use the warranty time allowances given in the pdf posted by xjrguy as a comparison.

Warranty time allowances are usually *lower* than those given for customer paid job.

The parts numbers for the various VIN ranges is also given.

Hi
Alldata lists 1.6 hours each side. It does not break the hours down for the upper and lower wishbone bushings. Just total for each side. It sound low to me also.
