Odd tail light problem
My rear tail lights are only working intermittently, well sort of.
Brake light works fine, fuses all good, no broken wires in the trunk area, To make the rear taillights work I have to cycle through the switch back and forward till the 'bulb failure ' warning goes out, I have a feeling it will stop working all together at some point, I'm not sure what would cause it to behave like this? The stalk possibly? |
It would be greatly helpful if you could put your Jag info in your signature so we know the common problems to start with for that year and model.
In the meantime, check this, ... http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/XJ/206-07%20AM3.pdf |
Sorry it's a 97 x308 XJR.
All 3 Brake lights work fine, it's the tail lights , the ones that are always on with the headlights. One the cars running, it seems to work after going through the light switches once or twice, With the engine off it's takes alot of switching on and off before it works. (Battery is brand new) I'm pretty sure the problem has been there since I got it (currently rebuilding it, only driven to test it) Confusing me as to what might cause it to behave like this. |
Thanks for the info ....I would check that TSB, its something many of us have dealt with.

Noticed some how a mosquito got inside of mine & died right on top of the reverse light portion, so it sticks out like a sore thumb lol.

Yeah, its the function switch.

Turned out to be the spring inside the connector on one side, must not have been making good contact, pushed it out a little and all good now.
