Default Housing from throttle body to maf

98 xj8: Removed housing, oil coming from breather hose on valve cover. Inside housing found oil up to throttle body. IS THIS NORMAL? Any filter on the breather hose?

Default Oil in Air Intake

98 XJ8: Cleaning throttle body & maf, found oil in housing between them, is this normal? Hose from valve cover to housing, is a filter used in hose? Also cleaned oil in housing, was this a mistake?

Totally normal. It is the crank case ventilation system and the oil condenses there...

+1 on what Daim sais.

As long as you don't have oil puddles in the intake system, you're fine.

If you're concerned then clean the intake + TB, drive a few weeks and if you have puddles again, then there's sth wrong.

But an oily layer in the intake is quite normal.
