P1722 Code Gearbox Fault
I think I'm in trouble. At a stoplight...light turns green and I begin to accelerate. At that moment, a big bump...then very limited power. I have read many posts and fear I'm looking at a new (rebuilt) transmission. Folks, somebody tell me it's not so. My computer codes are:
P1722 P1642 P1111 Any chance I don't need another transmission...? Tom in Kansas City |
Before you feel the doom and gloom get the transmission looked at by someone that knows what they are talking about. Not knowing the year of your car my 99xk8 chart says P1722 is transmission stall speed failure and P1642 is CAN circuit malfunction and theP1111 is just a test. When my transmission failed we replaced the A&B drums and the torque converter but that was my situation not yours. Get checked out and good luck. I have a code chart on my page if you want to check for your year model.

Sorry...2000 XJ8 with 43,000 miles.
|
Go to my page I have a little info on transmission and few other things that might apply. You are on the forum. Good Luck!
|
Doesn't sound good...lots of threads in the XJ8/R and XK8/R (earlier models) that have the same transmission, so lots will apply under similar circumstances. Get readin, and good luck! Based on your story, something broke. That's not good, obviously.
