Rear View Mirror - Replacement with Incorporated Backup Camera

Hi all

my auto dimming rearview mirror in my 1998 XJR has stopped working and has dark spots visible all the time.

My question, with needing to replace the mirror, has anyone upgraded their mirror to one which incorporates a display for a backup camera but still retaining the functions of the auto features?

Thanks

Chris

I looked into this for a while when I was replacing my mirror, I couldn't find a solution where the mirror could be upgraded while keeping auto headlights functional. That output comes from the mirror control board, and it looks to be specific to Jags best as I could tell. On the slim chance your outer mirrors are dimming, I don't think those can be used with modern mirror wiring as well.

If you're fine with losing those functions, the rest is easy - all you need is the ground, +12v ign, and reverse interrupt connections. X308's have those, and modern mirrors wire up the same way. If you're looking for an autodim rearview, that will be a feature of whatever mirror you pick. A quick google search came up with this one, has extra OnStar functions that just won't get wired up to anything: https://www.rearviewsafety.com/oem-g...nd-onstar.html

Not sure if that will mount direct to the factory mirror mount though, may have to get creative there...

Thanks

My side mirrors to my knowledge do not have the auto dim feature but i do like the auto lights option. Guess my best bet is to send the mirror out to be fix so I can retain the stock features and look into a wireless/ Bluetooth backup camera which shows the display on my phone.
