Remote Doesn't work. Valet key Only. Stuck out of trunk!!! Please help.
EDIT: If there are battery leads somewhere in the engine bay that i can disconnect, this could get rid of the valet. Are there any Battery Leads under the hood?
I only got one green key when i bought my jag. The remote was intermittently working, until today when it just decided to stop working completely. My first thought was change the batteries.....on my way to the store to get new batteries, i went to hit the seat warmer button but accidentally hit the valet button. Since i have no way of opening the trunk now nor unlocking the trunk through my remote, valet is on. I need to get in my trunk.
I tried following the instructions for reprogramming the key remote, but it doesn't seem to be working. I was wondering if i was maybe doing something wrong or if I need the main key to do the programming. The below steps are what I followed.
Pull headlight stalk toward steering wheel.
put key in ignition
turn key to accessory position
flash the highbeams 5 times to hear a chime.
etc, etc
Never heard a chime. Any way to disable the valet mode or get my remote to work without a big bill from the dealer?

No key fob...no valet key
I posted this in response to other threads on this subject also:
I had the valet button pushed accidentally as well...folks wondering what does what.... and thought the black key would not open the trunk. However, I tried a second time, and pushed beyond the 'stop' which is about 1/8 of a turn of the key toward the left....and pushed on...it feels like turning through heavy grease or as if the thing were glued...but it did turn, and then released the trunk as it should. It also turned off valet mode.
Honestly, I thought maybe I was going to break the key in the lock, but once the thing began to turn, it turned quite easily.
Glad I did not have to go to Jag for this fix.
I tried the 'look through the oblong holes with a flashlight' but never found any tab to push. Maybe this will work for you as well.
