Replace A/C Receiver-dryer with Condenser?

Finally located multiple leaks in the A/C condenser due to corroded cooling fins which need replacing. Before refilling, the system will be vacuumed clean and dry.

My question is would the contents of the Receiver-dryer be "refreshed" by the vacuuming and therefore there is no need to also replace the receiver-dryer? TIA

If you have the original drier, change it. When the incandescent bag breaks apart inside, sometimes it's a real chore getting all the beads that floated around the system out. The driers are relatively inexpensive anyways. If you had the drier replaced within your last A/C repair, I'd just vacuum the system out for a bit and be done with it. Just add an ounce of oil to the system when replacing the condenser and another half ounce if you replace the drier.

The XH7 and XH9 molecular sieve desiccants used with R143a driers need to be heated to a minimum of 200°C while under vacuum (300-400°C without vacuum) in order to drive the moisture from the desiccant. Not really possible to do with the dryer installed in the car. Driers also usually contain a filter, so replacing the relatively cheap dryer gets you a clean filter as well.
