Default Replacing Pedal Position Sensor (PPS) connector

I found a new Pedal Position Sensor (PPS) connector using this part number: Yasaki 7283-1057-30

Note: this is for the 1998 4L super V8 (5 pin connector). Naturally aspirated models and models from other years may use different connectors, including possibly a 4-pin connector.

I replaced it because the locking tab had broken.

A video of the replacement:

An excellent write up - just did the same job on my 1999 XJR with the 4 wire connector. The only things I would add are:

The part number for the four wire is Sumito 6189-0225 and can be purchased from autolumination.com ($15) or connectorid.com ($7).

I was impressed by how fast you were able to remove the connector! Took me a while to figure out that to remove the female metal part you need to lift a small plastic tab out of the metal part.

Hi Stuart,

thanks for the feedback :-).

It's the same for me. I spent a lot of time on other connectors before finding this video (go to position 1:50 in the video below) and understanding exactly what you're saying. For this type of connector, it's not a metal tab that snaps into a hollow in the plastic but the opposite, a plastic tab that snaps into a hollow in the metal pin.
