Default Manual gearbox will be next step in power stay tuned

Big thanks to Steve for the link to XKR transmissions I sent them an email and will be converting my XJR into a 5 speed manual. This will be a huge improvement not only with weight, power to the wheels plus the gear ratios are much better. So stay tuned for this fun filled conversion got to see how much and how long to get it all here, hopefully this is all feasible

it'll work out under 10$k if you use your own gearbox, I'd suggest looking for a lhd XJS manual pedalbox assembly.

My gearbox conversion is a 6 speed.

Honestly, as fun as the manual is I think they are overrated. Burned clutches, stripped gears and all the headaches with the conversion so you can grind it 'till you find it just doesn't do it for me 722.6 is a great trans and parts to make it more durable are easy to find if you know where to look.

Go for the twin screw and you'll be chirping tires between shifts anyway. I'm sure there is a way to convert it to a paddle-shift with an MB shifter assembly.

I am however curious as to how they get around the TCM computer with a manual so it doesn't throw codes.

They have an ECU that mimics TCM behavior. The TCM is for instance sending out ever 20ms (iirc) a signal that it’s there for instance.

$10,000 for a manual transmission swap is absurd.

And you don't even get the most important part for that price - the transmission!

I'm glad I don't want one.

BWAHAHAHA! That thing better shift itself and be able to handle 1000+hp and torque for that coin.

The stock auto already does that, and it could probably be built to handle that much power or close to it.

The reason I'm hunting an XKR...... ZF 6 speed....twin screw....if not, I'll buy an Aston V8 Vantage.

A few pix with notes on the manual trans conversion for my track XJS. It cost less than $2000, though no computers were abused in the process.
