Smoke and engine break-up
I have a problem that is two-fold.My troubles started when my mechanic of 20 yearsretired. This leads to my first question; Can someone recommend a reputable service centerin the Dallas, Ft, Worth area? Now my problem. My 2000 XJR has suddenly startedsmoking and using oil after 78K. It is also breaking upat high RPM.I have read some posts that talk about white smoke, blue smoke and black smoke. I don't seem to fit in theseareas. My smoke is a medium shade of gray with thesmell of gasoline. Can someone please help? I have heard it all from thedealers in central Texas. From a new engine to normaloil consumption.Thank you.

RE: Smoke and engine break-up
yikes! doesn't sound healthy...to either your car or people behind you. I haven't had to service my car outside of oil changes and brakes, and such...and the dealer is about to get the nod to fix my suspension, so I am afraid I don't know other jag techs in the area. sorry. if u do find a good one, post it up in the regional thread that deals with that exact topic. wish you luck.

RE: Smoke and engine break-up
what do you mean by breaking up at high rpms.? and how much oil is it consuming?

RE: Smoke and engine break-up
At speeds over 100mph the engine seems like it wants
quit. I'm burning about a quart every 1200 miles |
RE: Smoke and engine break-up
the oil burning is a little excessive..
