Starter

Hi, I'm new to this forum but would like to see if anyone could help me figure out where the starter is located and the solenoid? I'm having an issue when I turn the key it won't spin the starter but it will click an the battery is fully charged any ideas? Thanks for any help... I think it could be the solenoid but have no idea where it's located.:icon_wheel:

The starter can be viewed from beneath the engine it is bolted on with the face of the starter pointing to the transmission. The solenoid is intregal to the starter motor.
There is a relay that operates the starter #5 in the engine control box in the engine bay. Sitting in the vehicle it is on the right hand side.
Another problem area for the starter is the engine ground. It is beneath the car to the rear of the passenger side front tire. It runs from the frame to the engine/transmission. If it is corroded or loose it will cause starter problems.

Tools need to replace 99 jaguar starter

As the title states. I just had a 1999 Jaguar XJ8 given to me by a friend as a gift. The car has been sitting for 2 years not running. I put 8 new spark plugs in it clean the coil connections charge the battery and the car fired started sputtered and died. It has stale old gas in it and I need to drain it but since the car started I was excited and continued cranking until I burned up the starter. I need to know exactly how to remove this starter on jack stands in my driveway? The easiest way possible. What tools will make this job easier? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

The starter is much easier to replace than the alternator (I've replaced both). As long as you can get the car securely up on jacks, removal and installation is fairly straightforward.
