Whats your mileage?
My 1999 Daimler Super V8 has just tipped 158,000 miles. She doesnt go very far anymore, but on the occasions i've needed her she's proven really reliable. Did a 3000 miles round trip to the South of France in her last year, with no problems at all - except the fuel bill, but thats another story!
So how many miles have you got on the clock? |
My 2003 XJ8 has 71k on the odometer. I drive it everyday to work and back (it's my only vehicle right now) and I plan to take it on another 4,000 drive in August unless I get a truck before then!
|
2002 xj8 40,300
2002 xjr 53,000 :) :) |
99 VDP - 181k
Changed tranny at ~120k. Other than that, and swapping secondary tensioners at ~150k, and a few minor electrical issues, it's still going strong... (knock on wood:) ) |
2002 XJ8 Sovereign: just 10,200 miles (16500 kilometers)
Bought it in November. I should (and would like to) drive it more often. But with freezing winters and corrosive salt from november to march I just can't do it. |
I hit 55,555 this afternoon with the 02 XJR
|
69,700ish
|
2001 VDP right about 120,000 miles. Replaced secondary tensioners at about 100K. Tranny still going fine (knock on wood). Have done a few long trips on the highway with no problem. I've also got the aluminum thermo housing, and metal-vaned waterpump.
|
I just turned 162,000 on my 2001 XJ8 Vanden Plas. Still runs like new. Planning on setting the mileage record on this marque if possible. . .

2000 vdp 50,000

199,620miles on a 99XJR
I'm looking forward to turning 200K on a car everyone who doesn't know says in unreliable. work done: Alternator, starter motor, water pump, tensioners twice (second time we installed the upgraded ones) Supercharger replaced under warranty bearings in tensioners and idler pulleys, new belt, new hoses (all of them) False bulkhead connector (took out alternator and starter) |
85,000m on my 2002 XJ VDP. Changed all coolant hoses at about 65,000m (expensive) to avoid future one-by-one failures. Changed fuel pump, serpentine belt & idler pulley. I've had 5+ years of dependable driving pleasure so far. The first year it was still under Factory Select Warranty, when a couple of minor repairs were made at no charge (water pump and a vacuum leak, as I recall. I bought an aftermarket 2-year extended warranty and didn't have a single claim. My first Jag experience has been a delightful suprise.

1998 VDP 67k
I upgrade the tensioners when I bought it 2 years ago (at 34k). It is my daily driver for longer days. (Some days I go 120-160 miles round trip. I have an ALfa Spider for the days iWork in the office locally.) Julie |
106k on a 2000 VDP. I bought it 8 years ago, and I have had too many repairs to list since then despite being babied!
Transmission ~75 kmiles Water pump, hoes, thermostat and housing ~95k miles Secondary tensioners ~65k miles (plastic non spring assisted tensioners. One silently failed and lost its top and the other had huge cracks! I replaced it as preventative maintenance and was surprised by this find. I was REALLY close to engine failure!) And many other various repiars |
43k. Did everything but the A-drum when I bought it: water pump, thermostat, upper and lower tensioners, and hoses. Changed the tranny fluid at 40k and will be doing it again every 40k.
|
105K on a 1999 XJR.
The following things have been done during last 10K: - Full timing chain + tensioners job - heads back to new level - all water hoses - thermostat, water pump and all belts - change of supercharger, transmission and rear oils + two times engine oil , spark plugs - change of driving shaft bearings - limited slippery differential - new front breaks - catback, cats and O2 sensors + one exhaust manifold - intercooler radiator + SC waterpump - full corrosion protection - antenna including motor - paint protection - some parts changed/added for higher power output Hopefully a lot miles ahead... |

So how many miles have you got on the clock? Do all my own servicing and repair and purrs like a big cat should. last major trip was a run across the country and back covering 10,400klm and went beautifully :o) |
1998 XJR, Miles: 108895, orginal motor, with the Nic lining.
Work done: rear cross member replace (rusted), front drive side lower ball joint, and tune up. |

|
When it gets to 200K, I'm getting out and taking pictures of where we are at.
I always knew these were good cars and I worry about what the costs are going to be when it finally needs all the work I read about on the Forum:-) My mechanic told me whach the trans, real diff seals, and CHANGE THE OIL |
