I just replaced both of the relays for my 1998 XJ8 3.2 X308 in the hope that the craziness that I've experienced with the wiper stopping whenever and wherever would stop, but it didn't.
The relays I used are brand new. It's annoying and even so dangerous for the wiper to stop wherever it pleases as sometimes it does in the middle of the windshield and I have to get it running again which implicates a few rounds of it moving and then stopping ***** nilly wherever it pleases. Besides the relay, does anyone has another idea I could try?
Thanks!
As far as I remember, its not the lever, but the wiper motor itself.
It has contacts to determine the stop-points, which wear out.
I don't know if it is even repairable, we changed the whole wiper assembly on 2 cars.
Thank you very much! That might be helpful! I'm a little hesitant on getting a used one since regardless of the fact there are many good used parts out there, I wouldn't like to test murphy's law on getting the same problem on a different part. However new ones are scarce and quite expensive so I'm going to check if it can be serviced and the contact point replaced.
Cheers!
