I got an 2003 xj8 today with 1 black key and just the key and had the wise idea to put valet mode on which locked the trunk I have tried using the key part and it beeps at me. Help please I need to pack for thanksgiving

 

If I recall correctly, It should come out of valet mode when the black key is placed in ignition ?! Also try to open the trunk from inside the car via dash button w/ the black key inserted in ignition. It's a good idea to lubricate your trunk lock w/ some WD-40 or similar, since the keys are usually rarely used.

If all else fails, do a hard reset.

Hard Battery Reset :
With a 10mm wrench loosen & remove the negative lead to the battery, touch it to the positive post. This drains all residual voltage in capacitors. Re-attach & tighten the negative cable. This will clear valet mode.
