1989 Vanden Plas

Can someone tell me where the fuel pump might be?and also if you know what circuit 1 and 2 failure mean please let me know that’s coming up on my message board

Robman25 11-11-2018 01:48 AM

Circuit 1 and 2 means the fuse box in the footwells either side of the car. On the ‘89 the fuel pump should be just in front of the left rear wheel.

Just find which fuses have blown and replace those, I take it you know how to use a multi meter?

Andrew Lopez 11-11-2018 02:05 AM

Yes

Yes I do know how to use those but there is a wire hanging out by there how can I find out what that is for?

Robman25 11-11-2018 02:13 AM

There are wiring diagrams available that indicate what the various coulred wires control. Sorry can’t help much more that that.

Circuit 1 is DRIVER'S side fuse box if your car is the original RHD car.

Cars that are LHD are still numbered/identified with #1 being on the RIGHT.

Be VERY careful with Driver's/Passenger's when discussing British cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Andrew,

I revised the title of your thread to reflect the actual model of your Jaguar. If you'll google Vanden Plas coachbuilders you'll learn some automotive history.

At the link below you can download the Electrical Guide for your car. On the page before each schematic is a list of all the components in that system and their locations.

Andrew: I make it a regular practice to buy a service manual for whatever car I own. I have the old fashioned phone book thick manuals as well a the cd versions. I haven't subscribed but there is the online manual services such as alldata. I would strongly recommend that you make this investment. I think I paid $15 for my xj40 cd from an ebay seller.

Hi Don,
I'm working on fixing my central doorlocking sys (once again after many tries) and printed out your Electrical guide which looks very helpful. Although I have a 1990 VDP, are they quite similar or is it more involved? Thanks in advance, I've removed the driver side door card so I'm going to give it another go. Any additional help you could provide will be greatly appreciated, thanks much. Cheers.

Walt
