Default 1990 XJ6 Fuel Fail 24 FIXED

Okay, let me start by saying I am terrible with electric. As the title says, fail 24(ignition amplifier module). I followed the flow chart till I got stuck. I cleaned the ground connections around the coil, changed rotor and dist. cap. The fuel pump relay and ignition relay click as they should(if this means anything) and the fuel pump primes. No start situation. Was driving and just quit running. I do not know how to use a digital multimeter, but I did by one. GE 2524 17-range, 6-function. The flow chart says to check the connection at the blue pins of the ECM and check battery voltage on the Ignition control module. Also check the coil. Sorry to say, I don't know how. What setting on the multimeter is good for these checks and what to touch with what lead? Need the car running ASAP. Don't want to spend unneeded money. Thanks.

Update. I just taught myself to use a multimeter to test the coil. The primary and secondary readings were too high. 1.0 Ohms on primary(should be .4-.5) and 7.65 Ohms on secondary(should be 6-6.5 K Ohms). I suppose the coil is bad, but I found out that my local parts store could test the ignition module. So I took it up and they didn't have the right leads. I will try another store tomorrow. If not I will call the dealer Monday.

update. Local parts stores do not have the proper harness to check module. Shops want to have car for diagnostic $. I checked the module for battery power and it had it. I bought a spark tester and hooked up #1 plug wire and no spark. So I got the exact part # from Jaguar USA(must order module according to VIN #) and found the module and the coil suppressor @ Britishparts in the UK and got it for $68 with shipping. Waiting for part to arrive. Will let you know.

Update: Parts arrived and installed. Car fired right up. All ignition parts changed, except for wires. Peace of mind. The module did have a different part # on it, so I emailed the supplier. The promptly replied and all is well. It was just the manufacturers part #. Hope this helps anyone with the fuel fail 24 code. Cheers.

Congrats.

Maybe I can't read but exactly what did you order to fix the issue?
