1993 xj40 ac leak, help Im burning up!!!
Im the proud new owner of a very nice 93 xj40 sovereign. (pics will follow today or tomorrow)
Im pretty happy with the car except the ac is leaking pretty bad and I live in Oklahoma....115-120 Fahrenheit right now.
I have zero experience working on ac system and am broke since I paid cash for the Jag lol.
Here is a couple o pictures to show the leak, maybe somebody can point me in the right direction? I have to refill the freon pretty much everyday and thats not gonna cut it .

Welcome to the forum. Be sure to go to the "new member" section and introduce yourself. I believe you need to get a new hose and connector, unless that whole set up is one piece, then you would have to replace that. Be sure to depressurize it from the relief valve. Get yourself a Haynes Manual as soon as possible. You have an older Jag, start putting money in an envelope, and enjoy the ride!

Thanks guys, picked up a Haynes manual after work. I once again charged the ac and duct taped the heck out of the connection...maybe this will get me by for few more days.
We only have auto store chains here but Im pretty tight with one of the store managers. He can point me in the right direction.
Appreciate the help guys! Go check out my ride in the newby section.

Here is the hose you may be looking for: MMB7310AB - A/C Hose However it may just be the o-ring (num 15) or it could be the what I would assume is the accumulator (they call it a muffler) at 1.

I have a feeling its the o-ring. Thats exactly where I saw some dyed oil come out of. I`m no to ac systems so I didnt even know an o-ring existed there lol.
Thank you guys for the help, I should have this leak fixed this weekend.

It`s just too hot to even go outside and work on it right now. I went ahead and used some more duct tape on there Lol
Seems to be holding pressure so far. I realize that thats not a permanent fix or something that goes on a Jag but man, it`s keeping the air in there a frosty cold 90F

That fitting is just an o-ring, the hex just unscrews and then the joint comes apart and you can see the o-ring. Make sure you get refrigerant oil on the o-ring before you install it. As well, when you go to get the recharge make sure you let it go into a nice deep vacuum. Minimum 30 minutes, the longer the better. If you do not replace the drier then you must let the vacuum do its thing to take moisture out of the system. With the R134 cars (93-94) the evaporators do leak in the dash at some point in time. The molecules of refrigerant are smaller than the old R12 molecules so they find holes no matter how microscopic. Finally, with all a/c systems, once you fix one leak, another is sure to appear, even more so with an older system. Good luck and enjoy the car, nothing rides nicer!
