89 xj6 help with front end?

Hi jagers ,

I have a 1989 xj6 that is giving me some issues. Possible could have broke the barthat connects my upper arm mount could have busted the crossmember k frame not 100% sure, i was told my year can use parts from the xj6 -6.0 from years 81 to 94, does anyone know the truth on that?

Hi Nickie,

The U.S. specification Jaguar XJ6 cars from 1988 to 1994, which were all designated by Jaguar by the factory project code XJ40, are very similar and many parts are interchangeable, but many are not due to evolutionary revisions over the years. There are a few parts from the earlier Series III cars that will fit (interior rear view mirror, for example), and there are parts from the later X300 and X308 cars that will fit (wheels, for example).

To answer your specific question, many of the parts of the 6-cylinder cars (3.6 liter then 4.0 liter in the U.S.) are interchangeable with the 12-cylinder cars (6.0 liter), but obviously most engine parts are different, as are some components in the suspension and elsewhere.

Regarding your car, can you describe the problems that are leading you to wonder if something in the front suspension is broken?

Cheers,

Don
