Battery cut-out ? 1993 XJ6
(Just realized I previously posted ? in wrong category). So, does anyone know if the "automatic" type of battery cut-out things work/are reliable, etc.? Supposedly they cut-out the battery connection when the charge drops to 11.7 volts and ignition is off, and then cut back in when an electrical accessory (as the headlamps) is turned on allowing engine starting as normal. I have the inexpensive "screw down and unscrew" type now which is less than convenient. Thanks.

Not familiar with the type of device you mention.
However, those small "Battery Minder" type trickle chargers work well. They self regulate to avoid over-charging and you can buy models that mount near the battery for semi-permanent use, requiring only plugging in to an extension cord when the car is stored/unused.
