Brake Issue/Wiring?
Hi all, I've got a slight problem on my '88 VDP. I've already done the brake conversion using the Series III booster and eliminating all the old hydraulic system. My issue is I keep blowing circuit #3 Fuse #4 which is listed as Power Brakes/Ride Leveling. If I replace the fuse which is a 3amp fuse,it instantly blows the second the ignition is turned to the "on" position. Does anyone have the wiring schematic for the center console fuse panel on an '88 XJ6/VDP? Does anyone know what may cause this to blow? It just started recently but the system was converted a few months back.Apparently something is shorting out causing the circuit to blow.

Managed to get the schematic for the Center Fuse panel ( Circuit 3 Fuse #4). It turns out it is live with the ignition and feeds power to the hydraulic valve block, the "up" valve relay and the ride height sensor, all of which I don't need since the troublesome automatic ride leveling was already changed to standard shocks and springs by the previous owner and the hydraulics for the hydroboost has been removed with the brake system being converted to a Series III vacuum brake booster. I just eliminated the circuit since it was no longer needed by removing the console ash tray, locating the White w/Grey tracer wire, cutting it and using heat shrink to seal the open ends. One more step to seeing a dash with no troublesome codes popping up!

Was the schematic you found Figure 2, Ignition Switched Power Distribution, from the 1988 XJ6 & VDP Electrical Guide, or some other document? I'm just always trying to collect any Jaguar-related-documentation.
Thanks,
Don

Yes,it was figure 2 and it continues over to Figure 26 to the ride leveling circuit. It's strange since the conversion to standard springs and shocks were done before I purchased the car,yet for the first few months of me owning the car it never blew the circuit until the last month. I believe everything has been disabled from the rear suspension but I'll probably get under there this week sometime and check.
