Cigar lighter lights, which fuse
I'm not getting 12v at the lead for the rear cigar lighter, although the cigar lighter itself is receiving 12v.
Does anyone know which fuse location feeds the cigar lighter lights? |
Hi Al,
I assume you're asking about the XJ81. You can download the wiring diagrams here: Jaguar XJ40/XJ81 Electrical Guide 1993-94 It looks like the cigar lighter lamps receive power via the Side Lights Positive Relay (in relay module H behind the right dash underpanel/kick panel) and Fuse C2 (10A) in the Left Fuse Box (base of left A-pillar). Cold, starved or cracked solder joints are common in those relay modules. If the fuse is good, take the cover off of the module and inspect the solder joints, especially the ones on the relay pins. Re-flowing and supplementing the solder usually resolves any problems. There's a small bulb in a socket that is molded into the lighter socket assembly. It's possible your bulb has burned out or there's a problem with its electrical connections. Somewhere around here I have an extra socket and I'd gladly take a photo but we just moved, so I don't even know where to look. Here's the diagram from jaguarclassicparts.com, the bulb is part 3: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...039652c4c0.png Cheers, Don |
Thanks, I'll check the fuse and relay.
I've already replaced and tested the bulb and socket, So they are good. |
