Dirty mags
My xj40 '91 build has very dirty "roulette wheel" origonal jag alloys. They are dirty but seem to be a bit pitted as well and the dirt has got into the pits making them hard to clean. I tried a bit of light cutting compound on a small part but it doesnt get rid of it all. The owners manual says the wheels have a coating which should not be removed. Do any forum members know of a good way to clean them up without damaging them?

The warning in the Owner's manual refers to the clearcoat.
Thorough cleaning is essential beforehand and I've recently tried Sonax Xtreme (recommended to me by our Forum Admin) which is an excellent product. SONAX XTREME Wheel cleaner full effect :: XTREME Series :: Products - SONAX - cleaning and polishing like a professional Check this thread for DIY refurbishment. The link in post #8 by Lcgi is very useful: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/w...-wheels-80609/ Alternatively, have you considered professional refurbishment? The alloys will look like new again. Here's a link to one refurb service operating in Melbourne: Wheel Fix It Mobile Alloy Wheel Refubishing The 'before' and 'after' pics will give you an idea of the results. Graham |
