Most recommended harmonic balancer rebuilder?
 

It appears I may need to get the harmonic balancer on the XJ12 rebuilt.

And of course AFAIK there are no new HBs to be had, but there are a few rebuilders out there in the USA.

I've seen Dale Manufacturing recommended in the past, and a few others, but thought I'd check to see if anyone has any specific endorsements or warnings for any of the rebuilders before I choose one.

I've never heard anyone warn against any particular rebuilder. If there are any particularly bad ones out there, they haven't risen to the surface in Jaguar discussions.

I've used Dale Manufacturing several times. Happy customer here. But, my gut tells me that you'd probably get good results from any number of others.

Now I haven't tried this, but if I was in your situation I would certainly give it a go before tearing into the balancer.

Dribble a bottle of the thinnnest, wateriest, cyanoacrylate (super glue) you can find into the delaminated area and wait for a bit. I imagine 10 mins should be enough, but may as well leave it overnight.

I've heard this technique can rebond the balancer ...and theoretically, it should work if there is intimate contact between the surfaces.

Super glue is most effective in 'cracks' - the smaller the gap, the stronger the bond. The glue will be sucked into the joint by capillary action.

Well that sounds like a ringing endorsement for Dale Manufacturing!

Regarding the super glue fix, it might work, I have no idea. But the big issue with getting these HBs repaired is in the removal and reinstallation, so if I get it off I’ll just send it to someone to repair properly and not risk the DIY option not working out. The cost to have it rebuilt is pretty economical at less than $200.

You do the superglue 'repair' with the thing in place on the engine. You don't remove it.

If it doesn't work, THEN you remove it!

I didn't feel like spending small fortune on new balancer at the time so i "fixed" mine by drilling three holes through the both parts of pulley in equal distances and depth and dropped there pins cut from stainless steel rod and than locked them in place, i took special care to have three holes in same depth and distance from each other and all pins of same weight to not throw anything out of balance. idea of pins stopping both parts from rotating worked perfectly for me but hardly you can call it repair..
Removing HB was not that hard, loosened crankshaft bolt with the starter trick, HB went out rather easy

I've never tried the cyanoacrylate method so I'll be very curious to learn if it works.

I used DamperDoctor maybe 10 years ago and was happy with the restored damper and turnaround time.
