power hydraulic system hmso fill tube
 

does anyone know where i can get the fill tube that used to come with the castrol gtx hmso..or does anyone have a trick to fill my power hydraulic system....

I had a customer that was tired of the LEAKING green bottle so I installed a 1990 reservoir and discarded the original one.
The PAS fluid reservoir is separate so the POWER FLUID reservoir can be replaced with anything that will hold fluid and have feed and return fittings.

Thanks Bob the book says this is a high pressure system so the 90 reservoir will replace with out changing anything but the reservoir and do i leave the part with the green and red level indicator...

where could i find a 90's reservoir

The PAS reservoir will NOT fit in the same location as the green bottle but I simply fabricated some brackets and moved some things around until it fit.
The 1990 to 1992 reservoir (WITHOUT RIDE LEVELING) CCC2789 is preferable but the more common CCC2783 has an extra return hose barb that must be 'blanked-off' or capped.

The reservoir is NOT under high pressure!!

Hi pixiesjag,

If you need a solution before you can swap reservoirs per Bob's suggestion, here are a couple of ideas I posted recently in reply to another member asking the same question:

One is that if you replace the oil in your differential (something you should do if it hasn't been done in a while), and if you use a high quality product like Lucas gear oil, you can clean and save one bottle and tip specifically for use with HSMO:

Another solution might be a syringe with a tube small enough to fit into the opening of the HSMO reservoir opening. There are a lot of options on eBay if you search "syringe with tube."

The ones I keep in my shop for multiple uses are a little more expensive but they are of very nice quality and easily cleaned and reused long-term. Here's a photo and sample eBay listing:

Thanks Don! Sorry for the periods, new question got the hsmo reservoir filled thanks to your link to the to the ebay listing worked great now that it's filled does it self bleed or do I have to bleed it and how.

Also went to parts store for new oil filter of course there book told them to give me a puralator #PL15317 filter also says online but is way to small one on car is jaguar ebc 9658 do you know proper replacement cross reference number and hopefully i can get today as I've already drained the oil.Napa? auto zone?advance auto? Thanks again for all your help so far. Will be testing power leads to antenna today.

I use WIX 51231 but Bosch 3978 is a good one.

Hi pixiesjag,

If you can find a Mann 719/7 (also often called the 7197 without the slash), it is virtually identical to the Jaguar filter (Mann is a long-time OEM to Jaguar). Our local NAPA carries Mann filters, possibly under their Altrom brand.

Other good options include:

Wix 51231 which O'Reilly carries (Wix is owned by Mann)
Mahle/Clevite OC238 (Mahle is also an OEM to Jaguar)

These filters include non-return / anti-drain-back valves to keep the filter full when the engine is not running, and bypass valves to allow oil to flow should the filter become obstructed.

Rock Auto carries all of these filters at good prices so I stock up from time to time so I always have one or two filters on hand.

I use the pl15317 Because it is smaller- therefore easier to install and remove.

....but with less filtration media surface area? :)

Sometimes my 2 cents arent worth the paper theyre printed on. But it works and it makes that just a bit easier for me. I've been doing it for these last 12 years.
