Rear Brake Job headache 89 XJ6 VDP
When I bought my Jag a couple of months ago the owner informed me he'd already purchased rear brake pads and they were in a box in the trunk.
So I started on changing out the rear brakes today. (They needed it).
But I got a big surprise when I went to put on the supplied pads. They were NOT correct! The plugs were not the correct plugs for the wear sensor. He had purchased them from autozone. So I call auto zone, give them my vehicle info ... and they came back with the same part number! So I had them look up the same part of an 89 XJ6 but NOT Vonden Plas. They had a diffierent part number. But they also couldn't even get them. I took the same info to Advance Auto, who had what I needed.
Not sure why saying Vonden Plas gives me the wrong part .... I mean ... my car IS a Vonden Plas. Who knows, but I took some pictures because I know you guys like that sorta thing.
Pic one compares a new brake pad with the old one. As you can tell, a slice of cheese would've given me more braking action than the old pad!
Pic two shows the WRONG connector (for what I needed anyway)
Pic three shows the correct item that fits what I'm driving.
