Rear Shocks for 1994 XJ12
Hey Folks, the car I just purchased needs rear shocks. I have been searching here and online and have found these listed as fitting my vehicle.
now, my car has had the SLS removed years ago and currently has Bilstein shocks on the rear suspension. they are marked Bilstein Jaguar, MMC 3541 FA, and, 02061 1623W002, the shocks I have found through searching are KYB KG9309, Bilstein 24-018050 / CCC9623 have any on you used these ? my car is 1994 XJ12, VIN 676081 any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave |
There have been reports of the KYB shocks breaking the top of the shaft, I would stay with the Bilstiens. One other thing to check is whether the suspension is the X300 style as they did change late in the XJ40 to what was called hybrid set up IIRC |
The Rear set up is the early 40, pre-X300. with the springs over the shocks on the outside of the control arm, the springs are not seated on the control arm like the next model.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...ae23c62ea3.jpg

That’s good then with the proper tools thats an hours job to remove and replace the shocks (per side) BTDT. Jjust make sure you mark the top hat relationship to body before you take it out and a good idea is to cut a long (8mm?) bolt head off and cut a slot in the shaft to screw into one of the bolt holes to allow the top hat to align itself when you are offering the shock back up. |
