Default retrofit A/C for Colder air, XJ40

13th instant,

I have been trying to find a thread (any thread) which describes any retrofit for inducing colder air from my XJ40 MY1991, Sov. I am of the opinion that in Aus, we do not need the hot coolant swirling around the a/c unit in the cabin simply to satisfy the term "climate control".

If you are in a hot climate, may I suggest at least one step you can take to have a more efficient A/C and that is , to insulate (very thick) the upper refrigerant hose (cold) which is the upper one going into the expansion valve and hence, into the cabin. Obviously prohibits engine heat permeating this part of the A/C.

What I would like to do is to install a one way valve into the hot coolant pipe that on RHD cars is just below the battery or inlet manifod, and goes obvoiusly into the A/C unit in the cabin.

Any direction as to the tread would be appreciated.

Regards,
Michael Prichard.
