starting problem

I have a 93 xj6, and when I go to start it, the car will turn over but will not start. When I let off the key and try it the second time it always starts,and then the transmition light is on. Turn car off once more and then restart and everything is OK. Any ideas let me know...

it sounds like an electronics problem with the tranny control.
