Unable to fill in the steering reservoir
 

I had to change the high pressure hose of the steering system on my XJ40. Thanks to Barrat I received a new one in less than 24 hours.
Because of the major leak a large quantity of mineral oil was lost, plus I emptied the crankcase under the the car.
After reffiting with the new hose, when I want to fill in the circuit with new oil, I can only add some (little quantity ) into the reservoir; it seems that no oil is passing thru the various parts of the steering /transmission circuit.
Can you provide me with correct ways for refilling the system?

This is just a guess, but try starting the car and moving the steering wheel from full left to full right and see if the system will take more oil afterwards.

Thanks Larry for the guess. I did it without success; I will resume the process when the rain will stop.
I observed that the oil surface inside the reservoir is bubbling a lot when the engine is running. but no explanation so far for the bublles.

The bubbles are the air bleeding out of the system little by little. You want the air out for the steering to work its best. Repeat with turning the steering side to side and adding more fluid slowly. Perhaps raise the front wheels off the ground to assist with turning. Or, roll the front tires over heavy duty plastic bags which will make turning on the ground much easier.

As I was unable to fill the steering circuit using the reservoir I used the gauge pipe to fill with the necessary volume of oil, I will adjust after some time of running.
