15" tires...
 

Hey, looking for input out there on what tires people have recently put on their original 15" rims.

A quick search of Tire Rack shows Pirelli P4, Four Seasons in 205/70R15 and 215/70R15, Michelin HydroEdge w/ Green X in the same 2 sizes and Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max also in the same 2 sizes. There were some other brands listed, but these seem to be the best quality, based on my limited knowledge.

I drive the car daily hence the 2 low rolling resistance options listed (I'll take any MPG boost I can get with this car).

Again, looking for input as to what you may be using and if you like it or not.

Not sure about tires on Jags specifically. But I do know the hydroedge are fantastic tires in general. They really help with fuel economy and a very very long lasting, perhaps even longer then the 800 tread rating implies. Makes them a smart move if you don't curb your tires are constantly get nails in them. If you are really bad with your tires get the cheapest ones available because you probably won't ever wear them out.

Make sure you check the load ratings, for example on tire rack don't look just at a size but rather look for tires based on your car. This will ensure you get tires that are properly rated for you car and not just the right size.

I only mention that last part because I didn't find the hydroedge for my car, and if I did, I would have got them.

After a lot of research I chose against the Goodyear and Michelin options. The reviews of Goodyear all pointed to a loud tire which I don't want. One reviewer said "they are like driving through a hurricane". Michelin didn't get cut down so much from noise as they did for gripping ability, or lack thereof. And Pirelli had knocks about uneven wear and tread life.

I just put on a pair of Copper CS4 205/r15 70s. They are a top rated T rated tire with great lane changing (grip) ability and low noise. They are offering a $50 rebate for a set of 4 which I had installed for under $430 before the mail in rebate. Another Cooper advantage is that they have a 45 day "test drive" of their tires. Don't like them, take them back.

I wasn't willing to go and put on higher speed rated tires due to cost and available tire sizes. Reasonably priced high speed (U, H, V) tires that I found only come in lower profiles (65 and below). I would love that option, but the cost of re-calibrating the speedometer/odometer were cost prohibitive.

I hope this insight helps since tires are such a personal choice.
