1974 XJ6 rack and pinion

I have a ‘48 Chevy Panel Truck with 1974 XJ6 suspension and rack and pinion. I need to replace the rack and pinion. I’m trying to find the recommended power steering fluid. However my engine is a LS1 from 2002 out of a Corvette. So the pump is GM, do I use the fluid recommended for the rack and pinion or the pump?

As I have been given to understand, almost Any quality PS fluid will do.

Once, in a pinch, I even used high quality tractor hydraulic fluid, of which I had a 5 gallon bucket, with no adverse effects.

But it wasn't such a pretty red as comes from a genuine PS Fluid bottle for which we pay a Lot more per ounce.

Not to worry. Jaguar used ordinary GM power steering pumps back in the day when your rack was first used. Any AT fluid is fine.
