Hmmm. You may need to go overseas for them if you're having trouble. Have a look at Martin Robey Jaguar in the UK. They have all sorts 'o' goodies.

I sent two emails to them... No answer. BAD
I found 4 part numbers for those EGR Valves. #73157, #73166, #73165, #C44184 but they are not currently available or at least I can't find them.

Finally I found some old ones in Ebay that look way better than mines.

Actually, they are rater simple and crude devices. Way back when, I sought an exemption for my 79 IHC Scout II based on a none available EGR. Yuk, BAR found a source for "rebuilt" units. So, I bought one. YUk. cruddy looking thing, but functional.
Not quite right, but would work. Nuts, I got took, I could have fixed mine as well or better. A simple open and close valve that cokes up. Dig out the coke and it works!!

You might Google for a rebuild place or just DIY yours or the Ebay ones.

Parts interchange

Debbie,

There is another forum that serves Jaguar models. It's jag-lovers.org and well worth the visit. A more international crowd and I'd say more focused on older models.
This is where I found the Kirby book. A must read, even if you do not have an XJS. Your XJ being a 12 cylinder you will find tons of worthwhile info.
The other benefit of browsing through this site is the cross-reference or parts interchange content. Here is what I found for a series II 12 cylinder EGR valve, courtesy of Jeff:

Jeff: "I too had a stuck EGR valve on my '76 XJ6 - I too was quoted $ 238 for a replacement. I was at Carlise Import car show and saw an EGR valve off a Triumph (TR6 I belive) It looked Identical - so I took it home - inspected it and it WAS IDENTICAL so I fitted it on the jag - Problem solved, car sailed throough emmisions. I paid $1 for the used EGR but the "Victoria [British] catalogue" sells brand new Triumph ones for about $20 I believe. This is one occasion when Jaguar is ripping people off -BIG TIME!"

Hope it helps,

Bart

EGR valves

Hi Guys,

Finally I received the EGR valves. They are new/old valves... I mean they are brand new with the original LUCAS box (made in Germany?) but they were there since 1970-80... They work though! I'm going to paint/touch up them and done! 19 bucks ebay from Canada.

Please, does anybody has the vacuum diagrams of the 1976 XJ12 California version? All my hoses are wrong and the Haynes book diagrams are different of mine. Why there is so many versions for the same thing...

Debbie
