1987 jaguar xj6 wiper motor location
Hello everyone. I've got another foolish question for you all. Where is the wiper motor on my xj6 and how would I go about testing it's function. Mine don't work and I figure that is the easiest area to start in.
Thanks. Evan |
if you remove the battery you will see it sitting inside the fender... of course hard to test with battery out, but if you unplug it and then reinstall battery you can probe for voltage with a test light

Well thats a start. Which wire is generally the hot wire to make them work on these cars? Coming into the motor of course

Hi Evan

When I test those in the shop, I use one of the old harness that was cut off the fire wall..
Green/Black and Black both have to be grounded.. Green/White are the fast speed Green/Pink are the slow speed Green/Orange are intermittent There is a ground to the body behind the wiper... A lot of times that is where the issue is.. Very poor connection, a nut and bolt through a thin body panel.. Cheers David EverydayXJ.com |

Here's the ground that you have to be aware of...

Mr. Hotrod:
My detailed post got shot down by IE8!! I finked out in mid composition. Short version. Extend that ground out to the same place that the battery ground cable attaches to the wing wall. Carl |
