1987 XJ6 "Complete Tune-Up"?
1987 Jaguar XJ6 Base, I6, 4.2, FI
Skipping all the boring details...
I am looking for a complete tune-up list - 100% layman's terms. What should be replaced, what brands are proffered (and why if at all possible). I am new to the car parts game haha. I am not looking for the cheapest or something to "just get by" with, I want something that works and works well. If the cheapest works, then great! If possible, please give a part number too. Here is my list so far:
Ignition
Spark Plugs
Ignition Wires
Distributor Cap
Filters & Valves
Air Filter
Oil Filter
Fuel Filter
PCV Valve
Belts
Serpentine Belt
Belt Tensioner
Timing Belt
Fluids
Oil
Coolant
Break Fluid
Transmission Fluid
Power Steering
Thanks in advance.

Most prefer Champion plugs.
I suggest Lucas Dist cap and rotor.
Original "Rists" brand plug wires are very good but any name brand should be OK.
No PCV valve
Oil, air, and fuel filters....any name brand OK in my opinion. Some people have very strong opinions about oil filters, though.
No timing belt, no serpentine belt, no belt tensioner.
Dot 3 or 4 for brake fluid. Castrol LMA is a favorite but any brand should be OK
Type F or Type FA for automatic transmission. Some like Dexron but the F or FA is closest to the original (but now obsolete) "Type G" fluid
Power steering system uses auto trans fluid, as above
Old fashioned green coolant...Prestone or the like.....should be fine.
The old XK engine likes 20/50 oil in all but sub-freezing conditions. Lots of strong opinion on the best brand to buy. My favorite is whatever is on sale that day.
Cheers
